How Booka stays neutral
By Joe C., founder of Booka. Reviewed October 2026.
A directory is only useful if you can trust that it is not tilted. These are the rules Booka follows, so you can hold us to them.
- Camp facts come from the camps, and we say when they do not publish
- Ages, prices, dates and contact details in the directory are taken from each camp's own published information and marked "Not published" where the camp does not say. We recheck them and correct them when a camp's site shows something different. A camp cannot pay to change a fact we show about it.
- Search results are not for sale
- Results on Booka are ordered by your filters and your location, not by payment. Camps cannot buy a higher place in search.
- Sponsored weeks
- Some camps pay to be featured for a particular week. Featured camps appear in a clearly labeled Sponsored section, separate from search results, and are marked Sponsored every time. Sponsored camps must have a complete, accurate listing. Paying never changes a camp's rank in search, its reviews, or the advice on this site. Camp Match recommendations are not for sale.
- Camp Match recommendations are based on fit
- When Joe C. suggests camps on a call, the suggestions are based on your child, your priorities and your budget. They are described as recommendations, apart from the directory, and they are not influenced by who pays Booka.
- How Booka earns money
- Camps that join Booka to take bookings pay a platform fee on bookings made through Booka. Camp Match calls are free to families. Booka may receive a referral fee when a family enrolls in a camp we recommended. Fees do not decide which camps we recommend, and the camp list we share is based on what your family told us.
- Conflicts of interest are disclosed
- If anyone at Booka has a financial interest in a camp we recommend, we will say so at the time.
- Reviews come from families who booked
- On Booka, reviews can only be left by families who booked and attended a session at the camp.
- Mistakes get fixed
- If something about a camp looks wrong, tell us on the contact page, or ask the camp to claim its page and correct it. We fix errors we can confirm.
